This is a form of carbon that has been processed to make it extremely porous so it has a very large surface area available for chemical reactions. This is the age old standard for removing chlorine.
Amperage is a measurement of electrical current. Since the heart of the ionizer is the electricity delivered to the titanium plates, having the ability to adjust the amperage is very advantageous. It allows you to optimize your ionizer based on the quality of your source water to produce alkaline ionized water with the optimum pH and antioxidant potential.
An antioxidant is a molecule capable of slowing or preventing the oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that steals electrons from a substance, altering or destroying it as a result. Oxidation reactions in the body can produce free radicals, which start chain reactions that damage cells. Antioxidants stop these harmful chemical reactions. Although oxidation reactions are crucial for life, they can also be damaging; this is why your body uses multiple types of antioxidants, such as glutathione, vitamin C, and vitamin E as well as enzymes such as catalase, superoxide dismutase and various peroxidases to fight oxidation. Low levels of antioxidants, or inhibition of the antioxidant enzymes, causes oxidative stress and may damage or kill cells. Since oxidative stress might be an important part of many human diseases, the use of antioxidants in pharmacology is being studied intensively, particularly as treatments for stroke and neurodegenerative diseases. Antioxidants are widely used as ingredients in dietary supplements in the hope of maintaining health and preventing diseases such as cancer and coronary heart disease. Alkaline water is believed to slow or stop oxidation by acting as an antioxidant.
In relation to water ionizers, electrodialysis is the process of passing electrical current through water to separate it into two streams—one with alkaline minerals for drinking and the other acidic water for sanitizing. LIFE IonizersTM delivers an electrical current to the water through an array of positively and negatively charged titanium plates that are separated by an ion-permeable membrane.
This is the length of use that you can expect to get from the filter. It is normally based on a family of four that uses 1000 gallons of drinking water per year.
The is the material that is inside the filters.
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor diode that emits light when an electrical current is applied in the forward direction of the device, as in the simple LED circuit. LEDs are widely used as indicator lights on electronic devices and increasingly in higher power applications such as flashlights and area lighting. Besides lighting, interesting applications include using UV-LEDs for sterilization of water and disinfection of devices, and as a grow light to enhance photosynthesis in plants.
This technology uses drop-forged titanium plates formed into a grid matrix that then coated with platinum The water flows in and through the electrically charged grid, increasing the ionization of the water, which in turn increases pH and ORP of the water. GRID plates combine the performance advantages of MESH plates with drop-forged durability that exceeds the strength of flat plates. In short, GRID plates are so tough that LIFE Ionizers can guarantee them for life.
ORP stands for Oxidation Reduction Potential. ORP is the measure of the alkaline water’s anti oxidant properties. In general, the ORP must be negative to have antioxidant potential. The higher the negative ORP, the better. If water has a positive ORP, it is an oxidant that may contribute to premature aging and the development of degenerative conditions.
pH stands for potential hydrogen, it measures the amount of dissolved hydrogen in the water that is available for chemical reactions. The main thing to note is that the pH scale is logarithmic (like the Richter scale for earthquakes). This means the difference between a pH reading of 8 compared to 9 it means that water at a pH of 9 is TEN times stronger than water at a pH of 8.
Modern water ionizer use SMPS Electrical power supplies. SMPS is the coolest running electrical system on the market, it reduces noise, energy consumption, and heat related stress on electrical components. SMPS power supplies extend the average lifespan of the ionizer to an estimated 30 years.
Source water is the water that comes out of your faucet. Your local water utility is considered to be the source of your water.
Surface area measures of how much area the plates in an ionizer have.. It is expressed in square inches or centimeters. If a plate is flat, its surface area can be calculated by multiplying the length of the plate times the width. GRID plates have more surface area than flat plates because of their uneven surface. Due to this extra surface area, GRID plates can make alkaline water with higher pH and antioxidant ORP levels than flat plates
In an ionizer, an electrical charge is delivered to the water through an array of metallic plates. The majority of quality water ionizers contain plates that are made with titanium with platinum coating. These plates are safe; they work efficiently, and they last. Watch out for phrases like "platinized titanium,” as these are not platinum/titanium plates. It is ideal for the plates to be dipped, not just spray coated. All LIFE IonizersTM titanium plates are dipped in platinum, so they are true platinum/titanium plates.
UV (ultraviolet) light is a form of electromagnetic radiation that can kill viruses and bacteria. Water sterilized with UV meets microbiological requirements, according to drinking water regulations. UV water purification applications range from municipal to domestic water supplies and vending machine water.
